This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325, which arrives amidst a global rise in backlash against women’s rights.
Against this backdrop, the Permanent Mission of Norway - in partnership with the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security (GIWPS) and the PRIO Centre on Gender, Peace and Security will launch the fifth edition of the global Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Index, which scores and ranks 181 countries based on 13 indicators of women’s status. The launch will include a briefing by the WPS Index Manager, who will discuss trends by region, within indicators, and across time while also exploring how the Index can serve as a critical tool for policymakers, practitioners, and activists alike. In addition, the WPS Index project leader at PRIO will brief participants on the high number of women globally now living in proximity to conflict.
The launch will be livestreamed on Microsoft Teams — you can find the link here.
