On April 10–11, 2025, 28 scholars, policy experts, and practitioners gathered in Oslo for a closed, interdisciplinary workshop on Children Born of War (CBOW), hosted by the European Research Council-funded EuroWARCHILD project. The workshop explored the experiences and needs of three generations of CBOW in Europe—including those linked to World War II, the Balkan conflicts, and children born to European ISIS affiliates—to better understand the plight of European children born of war in contemporary, comparative, and historical contexts. Through a series of panels and discussions, participants examined key themes such as intergenerational trauma, socio-legal developments, security narratives, and rights mobilization. A final panel focused on emerging challenges in Ukraine, laying the groundwork for an upcoming policy brief.
