From 1–5 June, GPS Centre Director Torunn L. Tryggestad attended a week-long Total Defence Course (TDC) for senior leaders in Møre og Romsdal county.

Established by County Governor Else-May Botten in 2024, the course is organized by the County Governor’s Office in close collaboration with Home Guard District 11 (HV11) and the Møre og Romsdal Police District. The programme brings together key actors from the public, private, and voluntary sectors to strengthen knowledge and cooperation on crisis preparedness and total defence.

Together with Kristin Scharffscher, Associate Professor at the University of Stavanger, Tryggestad was invited by the County Governor to deliver two presentations on the relevance of gender perspectives in Norwegian crisis preparedness and total defence. They were also invited to participate in the full course as observers. Their participation marks the first step towards a more formal research collaboration on the role of gender in crisis preparedness and total defence.
