On 18 June, GPS Centre Director Torunn L. Tryggestad participated in a full-day Civil Society Dialogue Network (CSDN) Policy Meeting on EU Mediation Efforts in a Rapidly Changing Global Context. The dialogue meeting was organised by the European Peacebuilding Liaison Office (EPLO) in Brussels.

The meeting brought together civil society experts, researchers, and EU officials to discuss the state of peace mediation in the current geopolitical landscape and to explore how the EU and its civil society partners can work more effectively together to advance peace mediation efforts.

In a geopolitical environment increasingly characterised by short-term and transactional peace agreements, Tryggestad highlighted concerns that efforts to ensure women’s participation and integrate gender perspectives into peace mediation processes are being increasingly side-lined. She further underscored the important role the European Union can play in promoting inclusive peace mediation and advancing the Women, Peace and Security agenda across its diplomatic and mediation efforts.
