On 2-4 September PRIO GPS Centre was well represented at the Pan-European Conference of the European International Studies Association (EISA), hosted by ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon, Portugal. The title of this year’s conference was Even better than the real thing? Questioning knowledge production, positionality, and authenticity in International Relations. The conference gathered close to 2 000 scholars and researchers, which marked a record number for this annual event. This was also the first time the EISA

Tryggestad on ‘New Trends and Actors in Peace Mediation: What are the implications for gender-inclusive peace processes?’ · Research Director Siri Aas Rustad on ‘From Participation to Peace Power: Understanding women’s agency through machine learning’ (co-authored with Senior Researcher Louise Olsson) · Senior Researcher Pinar Tank on ‘From Peacebuilding to Conflict Management? Rising Powers and the Implications of the Astana Process in Syria.
In addition, Research Professor Inger Skjelsbæk co-organised a roundtable with Senior Researcher Jenny Lorentzen (Norwegian Institute of International Affairs, NUPI) and Professor Annika Björkdahl (Lund University) on ‘Backlash Against the Women, Peace and Security Agenda’. The roundtable brought together the editors and some of the contributors to the edited volume (Björkdahl et al 2026) with the same title as the roundtable. Among the contributors to the volume and the roundtable was GPS Centre director Torunn L. Tryggestad. The EISA Pan-European Conference 2027 will be organised by the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia .
