Background

Julie Marie Hansen is the Centre Coordinator of the PRIO Centre on Gender, Peace and Security and a Research Assistant. At the PRIO GPS Centre she works mainly on the training initiatives 'High-Level Seminar on Gender and Inclusive Mediation Processes​' and the Nordic Women Mediators (NWM) network. She is also a Researc​h Assistant on the research project 'Equal Peace? Women's Empowerment and Multicultural Challenges in War-to-Peace Transitions'.

She is the Co-Editor of the PRIO Gender, Peace and Security Update

She holds an MSc in International Development Studies and wrote her thesis on the transnational engagements of women in the Myanmar diaspora in Norway.​
